What 275–700 CFM means in practice

The variable range gives the HEPA 700 more flexibility than a fixed 700 CFM label suggests. Lower airflow can help where noise, electrical load or pressure control matters; higher airflow can provide more air changes or larger containment airflow when the setup supports it.

HEPA 700 supports Command Hub controls, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity and Dri-Eaz Command Center Pro monitoring. Dri-Eaz also publishes HEPA-filter life/status visibility. That can help a fleet track equipment and filter condition remotely.

DefendAir HEPA 700 uses a simpler manual variable-speed control and does not publish the same remote-monitoring feature set. The two are close enough in airflow and dimensions that the control/monitoring difference is often more important than headline CFM.

Daisy chaining is useful but still bounded

Dri-Eaz currently publishes up to seven HEPA 700 units on low under its stated 15A guidance. The machine includes GFCI convenience outlets. That does not mean seven units can be connected in every electrical situation; actual circuit conditions, other connected loads and manufacturer instructions still govern the setup.

Where HEPA 700 fits well

The HEPA 700 is a strong candidate when the job values variable airflow, HEPA filtration, ductable negative-air capability, optional carbon media and remote monitoring in one 42 lb chassis. It can be less compelling when the job only needs compact basic filtration and does not value connected controls, or when very high airflow closer to 2,000 CFM is required.

Filter-stage choices change both maintenance and application fit

The standard filtration path uses a MERV 8 prefilter ahead of the primary HEPA filter. The optional activated-carbon stage adds odor, smoke and fume adsorption capability, but it also introduces another consumable and another layer of airflow resistance. That makes the carbon filter useful when the application calls for it rather than something that should automatically be installed on every job.

Keeping the exact part numbers on this page also helps avoid a common maintenance problem: buying a filter described only as “for Dri-Eaz air scrubbers” when the exact fit has not been verified.

HEPA 700 can trade airflow for electrical load

The normalized 1.5–3A range matters because the unit is variable speed. Lower-speed operation can reduce both airflow and electrical demand, while higher airflow moves the unit toward its 3A maximum. That flexibility can be useful in a mixed restoration setup where dehumidifiers and air movers already consume most of the available planning load.

The power calculator deliberately uses the maximum published amp value when it needs one conservative planning number for this model, rather than assuming the unit will remain at its lowest-speed draw.

When the connected controls are worth paying attention to

Command Hub is most valuable when equipment is spread across multiple rooms or jobs and the crew benefits from checking status without walking to every unit. A small owner-operator working beside the machine all day may place less value on remote monitoring. That is why Restoration Select treats monitoring as a selectable Finder requirement rather than awarding every connected model an automatic advantage.

What HEPA 700 does not decide for you

The machine can provide HEPA filtration, variable airflow and negative-air capability, but it does not determine the appropriate containment layout, target pressure differential or air-change target. Those decisions depend on the work area and restoration or remediation method. The equipment supplies the airflow; the project plan determines how that airflow should be used.

At 42 lb, HEPA 700 remains much easier to move than very high-output air scrubbers that can exceed 100 lb. Weight does not change filtration performance, but it affects stairs, truck loading and how quickly a crew can reposition several units through a job.
